Do You Handle Small Condo Moves Near the Brown Line?
Last updated: October 2026
Constantly. Condos near the Western and Rockwell stops are regular stops for our small-move crews.
Living near the Brown Line is a big part of Lincoln Square's appeal. Condo moves near the Western and Rockwell stops are usually small, but they still need a real plan and a real crew, because a one-bedroom on a tight street with building rules and a stairwell can take longer than a bigger home with a driveway if nobody thinks it through ahead of time.
Why condo moves are usually quick
Less to move. A studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom holds less than a house.
Simple layouts. Fewer rooms means fewer trips.
What can slow them down
Walk-ups. If your building has no elevator, that's fine. On walk-ups, we bring lift straps, shoulder dollies, and three or more movers. Read what's involved in a third-floor walk-up apartment move.
Building rules. Some buildings have move hours or want a certificate of insurance. We send COIs for free, usually the same day your building sends its requirements. Read when will I receive the COI.
Parking. Some Lincoln Square side streets carry permit zones. Tell us your block and we'll sort the right approach when you book.
Street sweeping. Weekday moves between April and mid-November should check the sweeping schedule. Read when does street sweeping affect a Lincoln Square move.
How small moves are priced
Small moves are hourly, with a 2-hour minimum. Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. Lincoln Square isn't far from our base in Jefferson Park. Read how much does a small move cost in Chicago.
What a typical day looks like
The crew arrives and protection goes down on floors and door frames. Furniture that needs to come apart gets taken apart, which is included in the hourly rate. Before anything gets taken apart, the crew takes pictures and has you check it in person. Then the carrying starts. At the new place, everything goes to the room you want it in, and anything that was taken apart gets put back together before the crew leaves.
How fast it can go
A small, well-prepared move can go quickly. Prep matters most. Read how fast can a mini move be done.
Making it go faster
Pack ahead. Boxes taped and labeled before the crew arrives.
Measure the big pieces. Especially for a walk-up.
Clear the stairwell. Bikes, strollers, and shoes out of the way, and a quick heads-up to neighbors so nobody is surprised when a couch comes down the stairs on a Saturday morning.
Set aside essentials. Read what to keep with you on moving day.
Sharing a move
Neighbors or roommates can share a mini move, with as many stops as you need. It's pretty common. Read can two neighbors or roommates share a mini move.
Festival weekends
If your condo is near the Square, festival weekends can close nearby streets. Read can you move on festival weekends near Lincoln Square.
