It weighs two hundred pounds or more, it's wedged into a spot exactly its own size, it may still be connected to something, and between that spot and the truck there's a kitchen floor, a doorway, and probably stairs. So it stays.

The hard part is the exit
Getting an appliance out of a Chicago home is a moving job wearing a disposal costume, and our crews treat it that way. The path out gets protected first: runners over the kitchen and hallway floors, padding on the door frames, because a refrigerator that shuffles across bare hardwood leaves a story behind it. The appliance comes out of its slot carefully, walked and dollied by people who move heavy things through tight spaces for a living, down the back stairs of a two-flat or through a high-rise service elevator, and onto the truck. Your floors, cabinets, and walls stay exactly as they were. That's the entire difference between us and dragging it out yourself.
One practical note on connections: have the appliance disconnected before we arrive, gas capped by your plumber, water lines shut and detached, hardwired units unwired. Our crews handle the hauling; the utility connections belong to the licensed trades, and we'd rather tell you that upfront than discover it at the curb.
What we take
Refrigerators and freezers, washers and dryers, ranges and ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, water heaters, window air conditioners, and the miscellaneous machinery of a household. One dead fridge or the full kitchen's worth during a remodel, same crew, same care, hauled the same day and disposed of responsibly. As with all our hauling: household items yes, construction debris and hazardous waste no.
If the appliance isn't dying, just moving, that's a different service and a better fate: our large appliance moving crews move working appliances to new homes all the time. And if the fridge is one item in a much bigger clear-out, our estate and property cleanouts handle the whole house in one pass.
What it costs
The quote follows the machine and the exit: a garage refrigerator with a straight shot to the driveway is a smaller job than a washer in a basement with a turn in the stairs.
