By signing your Windy City Movers Inc estimate you agree to be bound by Windy City Movers' Product and Services Terms & Conditions. It is your responsibility to check and be aware of all Terms and Conditions. You can review the most current version of our Product and Service Terms & Conditions at any time on this page.
Your signed estimate date adheres to the terms and conditions on said date of your signed estimate. We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these Terms of Service.

1. Cost of Service & Payment Terms
Booking Confirmation
To secure your move date, binding quote flat price quote and your requested moving services, a signed estimate is required at the time of booking. No deposit is required.
You have 24 hours to sign your estimate to secure your move date and binding quote flat price quote, from the date and time it is sent from your confirmation. Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to change the original quoted flat price quote on the customers requested services if the customer does not sign the estimate within 24 hours. Windy City Movers Inc cannot guarantee availability if the estimate is not signed within 24 hours. The quoted flat price quote is subject to change due to peak moving days, customer time window request and availability if the estimate is not signed within 24 hours. Availability is not guaranteed, as we operate on a first come first serve basis.
Outstanding Balance Payment
The remaining balance of your invoice is due 1 business day prior to your move date, except for Long Distance Inbound moves. Windy City Movers Inc cannot move you unless the remaining balance of your invoice has been received.
For Long Distance Inbound moves, the remaining balance of your invoice is due 1 business day prior to the start of your pickup window. Windy City Movers Inc cannot move you unless the remaining balance of your invoice has been received.
We accept cash, bank check and all major credit, visa and debit cards for the remaining balance of your invoice.
If you have opted to pay cash or check on the day of your move you must notify Windy City Movers Inc in writing when you receive your invoice and or during the booking process.
You must provide the total outstanding balance in cash or check to the Windy City Movers Inc foreman on arrival. Windy City Movers Inc will not begin moving and loading the truck with your belongings unless cash or check payment has been made first.
If any outstanding payment is not made, a third party debt collector will be contacted and this may impact your credit score.
Cancellations and Moving Date Changes
To cancel your move and requested Windy City Movers Inc services, a minimum notice period of no less than 1 business day or 24 hours prior to your move date is required in order to avoid additional penalties.
To reschedule your move date or requested Windy City Movers Inc services, we require a minimum period of notice of 1 business day prior to your booked move date. Penalties will apply if we are not informed within these guidelines.
Peak periods require additional notice for rescheduling. All moving and storage services booked between the 25th to the 31st of any month, and the 1st to the 2nd of any month are subject to a penalty of 100% of the total price if the rescheduling and cancellation notice is not provided within 3 business days of the original move date.
Additional Charges
If on the day of your move you have more items than are reflected on your quoted and original inventory list, you will be provided with an updated quote for moving the additional items. For Windy City Movers Inc to move your additional items, you will be required to review your updated quote and will be charged an additional moving fee for those items.
Payment for the additional items can be made over the phone. We accept all major credit, visa and debit cards. If payment for the additional items will be using cash or bank check, payment must be made prior to the move beginning.
We cannot move your additional items unless that additional item fee is paid at that time.
If there is no parking within 150 feet of the entrance of the pickup and drop off locations, an excessive carrying and pushing fee is applicable depending on volume and distance, with a maximum fee of $300. The moving crew will advise the customer and the moving consultant who booked the service.
Payment of parking tickets is the responsibility of Windy City Movers Inc.
In a jurisdiction where a customer can obtain a parking permit prior to the move, Windy City Movers Inc will inform the customer how they can do so for a small local-government fee. This is applicable for New Jersey and Hoboken. The customer is responsible for fulfilling this requirement.
If the drop off destination is correctly provided at the time of booking, your guaranteed flat price quote includes fuel and mileage. For any additional 10 miles Windy City Movers Inc has to travel to complete services that were not originally accounted for, an additional fuel and mileage fee will be applied.
Storage Services Billing
Windy City Movers Inc only accepts valid credit and debit cards to process storage move in, partial move out, move out services and monthly storage billing. Cash and certified bank checks are not accepted payment methods for storage services.
Payment for all storage services including move in, partial move out, move out and monthly storage fees must be made on the Windy City Movers Inc payment portal or processed over the phone with a representative.
The customer guarantees and warrants that they are the legal card holder of the credit or debit card used on the Windy City Movers Inc payment portal and or over the phone with a representative.
The card details provided by the customer for all Windy City Movers Inc services may be securely saved via encrypted token and used to charge, possibly in advance of the move date, the guaranteed price, recurring fees or related charges established in any relevant estimate, bill of lading, contract or storage agreement.
All storage services are subject to New York State Tax. Monthly storage fees include New York State Sales Tax and will be automatically processed every month on the customer’s original storage move-in date using the customer’s card on file.
If the customer’s card is declined due to insufficient funds, a canceled card or other issue, the customer will be sent a reminder email with payment portal details to process the outstanding balance and update card details. If payment is not received or a valid card is not updated, late fees and penalties will apply.
If monthly storage services are no longer needed, the customer must notify Windy City Movers Inc to schedule a storage move out by contacting info@wcmoving.com or (212) 651-7273.
Storage move out service will not be automatically billed against the customer’s card used for monthly billing. Storage move out services must be paid separately via credit or debit card.
Storage monthly rates are not prorated. If a customer moves out before the month ends, Windy City Movers Inc will not refund or credit the already paid monthly storage fee. If the customer moves out on the original move-in billing date and all outstanding payments have been received, the upcoming storage month will not be billed.
If there are any monthly storage balances due, they must be paid prior to scheduling any storage move out service. Windy City Movers Inc will not book or confirm any storage move out services if the customer has any outstanding balances.
If a customer schedules a partial storage move out and items remain in the storage facility, the customer’s monthly storage automatic payments will not be canceled, however the monthly storage fee may be adjusted.
Windy City Movers Inc will defend any and all customer chargeback claims submitted to their bank via the company’s merchant processor for legitimate services provided to the customer by contractual agreement.
Hourly Labor Billing
It is the customer’s responsibility to specify the requested hours of labor required for hourly moving service when booking. If the hourly moving service exceeds the customer’s requested time frame, Windy City Movers Inc is not liable for incorrect hourly estimates.
If hourly services are booked, Windy City Movers Inc requires a minimum of 2 hours for 2 movers and a minimum of 4 hours for 3 movers. Hourly service under these minimums will not be booked or confirmed.
Hourly labor moving services commence when the Windy City Movers Inc crew arrives at the pickup location and begins work.
If additional time is needed, the customer will be billed in hourly or 30 minute increments at the agreed hourly rate on their binding quote.
The customer must make payment of additional hourly moving fees and any additional moving fees incurred during the move on the day of the move via credit card over the phone with a Windy City Movers Inc sales representative before the bill of lading is signed at the drop off location.
If the moving crew notifies the customer that additional time is needed to complete the services, the customer is responsible for the payment of those additional hours.
Hourly moving services only apply for local moving services and are subject to Windy City Movers Inc management discretion. Flat price quote services are the default billing structure and hourly moving services do not apply to long distance, storage move in, storage move out or partial storage move services.
Promotional Codes and Discounts
Promotional codes, discounts and coupons must be redeemed with a Windy City Movers Inc sales representative prior to your finalized quote in order to be accepted. Your quote will reflect the applied discount.
Promotional codes, discounts and coupons are not applicable after you have received your quote.
The only exception is a comparable competitor quote. The competitor quote must be emailed with supporting documentation to Windy City Movers Inc. If the services are like-for-like and the quote is legitimate from an equal-sized organization, Windy City Movers Inc may aim to match or beat the competitor quote, but there is no guarantee.
If a customer who is moving with Windy City Movers Inc has applied an active promo code discount during the booking process, that same customer cannot also be treated as a referral customer. Referral commissions are not valid in that scenario.
Cost of Service
Costs of our services are subject to change if the date or time of reservation is changed by the customer.
Windy City Movers Inc requires 1 business day of notice for the rescheduling and cancellation of moving materials delivery and pickup such as boxes, bins and packing materials. Failure to meet these requirements will attract a penalty of $50.
The total quoted cost of services includes blankets and tape for furniture protection, dollies for the duration of the move, fuel, mileage and toll charges.
Additional waiting time charges may be applicable if there are any delays caused by the customer or building management.
Cost of service is subject to change if the customer adds additional items or services that were not originally quoted.
If any flights of stairs are involved, a stair fee charge will be applied. If additional stairs were not originally disclosed by the customer, a stair fee charge will be applied for the additional stairs.
For video estimates, the quote provided by Windy City Movers Inc is based on the items shown in the video quoting process and the inventory list agreed to by the customer when booking the move. If additional items or services are added that were not quoted for in the original quote, the cost of service is subject to change.
Windy City Movers Inc flat price quote includes the wrapping, packing and protection of basic furniture and large items such as TVs, dressers and sofas. It does not include the packing of household goods such as books, kitchen items, items in drawers, clothes, plates or miscellaneous household items that can fit into a box and were not listed on the quoted inventory list. Those items are the responsibility of the customer unless a separate packing service has been elected.
If additional items are to be packed that were not included in the original quoted inventory list, they will be charged with an additional packing and moving fee.
The minimum size of local moving and local storage services performed by Windy City Movers Inc is 200 cubic feet. If the service is under 200 cubic feet, the customer will still be charged for 200 cubic feet and no discounts will apply.
2. Customer Responsibility and Expectations
The customer or their legal representative, with power of attorney provided prior to the move, must be present at all times of the move. If the client or the client’s representative is not present, Windy City Movers Inc will not be responsible for any claims.
The following items are strictly prohibited from being moved or packed into boxes by the client: scuba gear, plants, nail polish and nail polish remover, oil and gas, grill and barbecue supplies, pets, firearms and ammunition, fireworks, liquor, chemistry sets, and any other hazardous materials including fertilizer, paints, aerosols, pesticides, motor oil, batteries and acids. Clients are responsible for ensuring none of these items are included in their belongings, and the moving company reserves the right to refuse transportation of any such items.
All furniture must be emptied by the customer prior to the move, such as dressers, drawers, fridges and freezers. The only exception is when the customer has elected and is paying for Windy City Movers Inc packing services. Fridges, freezers and perishable goods must still be packed by the customer under food and safety requirements.
Customers must unplug any electronic components and items. The moving crew will not unplug or install electronics.
Prior to collection, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure televisions and monitors are accompanied by their respective power cables for testing purposes. Failure to provide these cables means the functionality cannot be tested, and Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for damage or malfunction discovered later.
If the customer has decided to pack their own items, they must do so in durable boxes and packing material appropriate for transportation.
Food and perishable items can only be moved locally in moving boxes packed by the customer. Windy City Movers Inc is not liable for food safety.
Pets and live animals will not be moved by Windy City Movers Inc.
House small to medium sized live plants may be moved locally. The maximum height of a plant that will be moved is 200cm or 6.5ft. Live plants will not be moved for long distance moves or into storage except emergency storage circumstances, and no liability is accepted for loss or damage to those plants.
Windy City Movers Inc under no circumstances will load or move live pets, firearms, illicit substances or chemicals.
Waterbeds can be moved, but Windy City Movers Inc is not a waterbed technician. The customer must make a final inspection before the crew leaves and no later adjustment visit will be provided.
Only empty aquariums are moved. This means empty of water and empty of creatures such as lizards, turtles and snakes.
If you pack your own glass, porcelain, ceramics and other fragile items, they will be moved carefully, but Windy City Movers Inc will not be responsible for breakage. If you want them packed so they are covered by basic or increased insurance, you will be charged for packing and materials. If you decline those materials, you may be asked to sign a waiver.
Moving personnel will move pianos, appliances and items over 300 pounds only if the work can be done safely, at the moving foreman’s discretion.
The customer is responsible for signing the Bill of Lading at pickup and delivery.
Conditions of all TVs must be signed for at both pickup and drop off. Windy City Movers Inc movers will test TV function by turning the unit on and switching channels when possible.
In situations where Windy City Movers Inc is moving roommates, couples or divorced couples separating items to separate destinations, Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for claims relating to missing items, misdelivered items or items delivered without another party’s consent. It is the client’s responsibility to divide and identify inventory clearly.
Client-packed boxes must be durable enough to carry the weight of their contents and each box must weigh no more than 35 pounds.
Windy City Movers Inc standard service includes one set-up option per item when placing items in the new location. Services do not include multiple rearrangements at the request of the customer.
Clients are advised to use sturdy boxes. Weaker boxes may be crushed in transit despite standard handling practices.
Unless explicitly requested and confirmed as contactless moving service during booking, the client is responsible for ensuring the closure, sealing and locking of all doors, windows and access points at origin and destination. After movers leave, the client remains responsible for the security of the premises.
Windy City Movers Inc does not provide hoisting services through windows or balconies. Items must be safely transportable through normal access points. The company may provide simple disassembly services for items requiring the removal of up to 8 screws, provided no electrical or permanently affixed components are involved.
3. Insurance and Valuation Coverage for Customer Belongings
Your belongings will be covered with free basic coverage of $0.60 per pound per article by default as required by the Department of Transportation, New York.
If you would like to purchase the optional declared value protection you can do so through movinginsurance.com. Any additional coverage through that third party provider must be purchased at least 48 hours prior to the move and cannot be added the day of the move or afterward under any circumstances.
It is your responsibility to purchase additional insurance. If you have a high value item, Windy City Movers Inc strongly suggests you purchase third party insurance as the company is only liable for $0.60 per pound per item if the item is damaged or lost.
Windy City Movers Inc may request additional fees if you have nominated third party insurance for your items to ensure the moving and packing supplies match the value of your items.
A minimum of 3 business days is required for any wooden crate or bespoke packing containers to be created for valuables.
Windy City Movers Inc is not liable for claims filed on items that were already broken or damaged at pickup. The company reserves the right to photograph and note such items on the bill of lading. The customer must acknowledge and sign for those items as pre-existing damage.
If any item that is part of a furniture set is lost or damaged, payment or refund is only made for the contracted value of the individual damaged item, not the entire set.
It is a felony punishable by law to double file a claim for the same item through both a moving company and a third party insurance provider. The insurance claim for one item can only be filed through one insurance provider.
4. Building Insurance – COI (Certificate of Liability Insurance)
Windy City Movers Inc will provide customers who have booked their move with a Certificate of Insurance if required by the building's management to perform a move, through our third party insurance provider.
It is the customer’s responsibility to obtain COI requirements from building management, provide them via email prior to the move, and notify Windy City Movers Inc if pickup or drop off locations require a COI.
Windy City Movers Inc has the right to refuse to move the customer or charge an additional fee if the crew arrives and the customer did not provide COI information prior to move day.
Windy City Movers Inc does not provide floor and wall masonite protection in the standard flat price quote moving fee. If a customer or building requires that protection, it must be communicated prior to move day or at least 48 hours before the move so materials can be prepared. Additional material and handling fees apply.
5. Claims and Refunds
Our aim is to resolve any claim as soon as possible after receiving your Windy City Movers Inc claims submission form, images and relevant documentation.
You have 90 days from the date of move or delivery, or from the date the shipment should have been delivered in the event of loss of the entire shipment, to file your claim. If you fail to file a claim within 90 days, Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable.
If Windy City Movers Inc is late to the intended pickup time frame window for a local move, the company will compensate the customer with a refund of 5% of the total service fee for every subsequent late hour, capped at 15%. This applies only to pickup windows, not drop off windows. Claims for this refund must be made via the claims page form on the day of the move or 1 day after the move date.
Once a claim has been submitted, the claimant has 48 hours to report any additional issue. After that, no additional items or issues can be added to the claim or raised as a new claim.
Where a claim is open before completion of delivery or services, Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to issue any refund or compensation only after goods have been delivered and or services have been marked completed.
If you have a claim to make, contact info@wcmoving.com. Once the claim form is submitted, you will be emailed a copy for your records.
Claims may take time before items can be inspected, repaired or replaced. Windy City Movers Inc will investigate the claim, keep in contact through the claims department and present a fair settlement offer. If a fair settlement is not accepted, the company may work with an independent arbitrator where appropriate.
Windy City Movers Inc will not take responsibility for items reported as damaged if Windy City Movers Inc was not performing the transportation and or final delivery of those items. The customer must seek damages through the third party arranged by the customer.
6. Safety of Moving Crews and Customers
All Windy City Movers Inc crews undergo intensive moving training covering job safety, packing and unpacking, lifting, securing items, safe driving and customer service.
Moving personnel are covered by third party workers’ compensation insurance in accordance with New York State law.
Customers are advised not to get involved in the carrying of items. If a customer lifts an item and becomes injured, they do so at their own risk. Windy City Movers Inc is not liable for those self-caused injuries.
Customers are expected to treat Windy City Movers Inc personnel respectfully. Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to stop a move if a customer is harassing moving personnel.
7. Contactless Moving Services
If a customer or legal representative cannot be present during the physical process of move day, the customer must inform Windy City Movers Inc during booking that a contactless moving service is required.
By signing the estimate or paying any moving fees, the customer agrees to be bound by Windy City Movers Inc Product and Services Terms & Conditions, including the contactless moving terms.
The customer must make themselves available online during the contactless move day to take phone and video calls, answer questions and view the completed move.
The customer is required to sign the bill of lading electronically.
By accepting the shipment from contactless moving services, the customer agrees not to hold Windy City Movers Inc liable for building or apartment damage such as dents, scratches, damage to walls, floors and doors.
Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for items already broken or damaged on arrival and may document such items before touching them.
Windy City Movers Inc will not dispose of items or rubbish not included on the inventory list as items to be moved or taken for disposal. Any disposal charges from building management remain the customer’s responsibility.
The customer is responsible for providing access via a legal representative or building management. Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for the security of the location during a contactless move and will not be liable for claims of theft, damage or lost keys.
Windy City Movers Inc cannot guarantee that all items will be packed and moved during a contactless move if the inventory list is inaccurate or if the customer is unavailable to direct the team remotely.
8. Long Distance Moving Services
Windy City Movers Inc provides long distance service options including consolidated shipping and straight delivery.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to use a third party insured long distance moving provider depending on the distance of the move.
If a third party long distance carrier completes the shipment, communication will still be handled with Windy City Movers Inc, who will liaise with the carrier on the customer’s behalf.
Claims related to long distance moves involving a third party carrier must still be submitted to Windy City Movers Inc in accordance with the company’s claims procedures.
For consolidated shipping, Windy City Movers Inc picks up items on the agreed reservation date and reloads them into long distance trailers from the dispatching center. Exact delivery dates cannot be guaranteed during booking, and the customer will instead receive a delivery window based on distance, date, month and logistical variables.
Windy City Movers Inc aims to provide a minimum of three updates on the expected delivery date for consolidated shipping.
For exclusive straight delivery, the entire long-distance tractor trailer is reserved for the customer’s move.
Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for delays caused by road closures, accidents, traffic jams or law enforcement stops.
Windy City Movers Inc will refund $50 per day for delays in collecting or delivering long distance shipments past the contractual collection or delivery window if missed due to mechanical failure, road conditions or poor logistics planning.
A shuttle truck transfer may be required if a 53 foot truck cannot fit at the delivery address. The customer must inform Windy City Movers Inc one day before pickup and drop off if the street cannot fit a 53 foot truck so shuttle arrangements can be made.
Windy City Movers Inc has the right to place items in storage and re-deliver them at the first available date if nobody is present at the delivery point within the guaranteed delivery window. Additional redelivery and storage fees will occur.
At pickup, the customer should inform Windy City Movers Inc of the first available delivery date to accept the shipment. Changes after pickup may result in additional charges.
9. Storage Services
Windy City Movers Inc provides warehouse storage only. Items are wrapped at pickup, transported to the secure storage facility, placed on pallets and additionally wrapped and organized. Storage facilities are private, secure and monitored by 24 hour video surveillance. Customer visits are restricted.
Storage monthly fees are predetermined by shipment size, calculated per cubic foot plus tax per month. The storage rate is fixed on the date of booking and signing the storage agreement.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to amend a customer’s monthly fees if the customer schedules a partial storage move out, adds additional items, has items not originally quoted for, or for any other reason.
Moving out of storage can be scheduled with 3 business days’ notice. Self move out also requires 3 business days’ notice and incurs a self move out fee equal to a full storage monthly fee.
A customer may nominate a third party carrier to pick up items from storage for an additional fee equal to a full month’s storage fee.
For emergency in-transit storage, items may be stored for 14 days before the customer becomes subject to regular storage terms and monthly billing.
If monthly storage payments are not collected for 3 months, Windy City Movers Inc has the right to place the items on auction and or dispose of them to cover loss, without liability for damages or claims.
Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for claims or damages involving self-packed and incorrectly packed items stored in the facility, regardless of storage duration.
Perishable goods are strictly prohibited in storage facilities. If found, the customer may be held liable for damages and losses, including pest control costs and damage to other customers’ property.
Windy City Movers Inc does not offer storage visits or individual storage unit services.
The legal responsibility for monthly storage payments remains with the signer of the storage agreement, even if items belong to other people.
If multiple individuals have items under one storage contract and later want to split their inventory into separate contracts, the original storage balance must first be paid.
Windy City Movers Inc will not be responsible or liable for damages, claims or losses when a customer or third party carrier removes items from storage.
Plants, flowers, weapons, dangerous chemicals and prohibited substances are not accepted in storage. If stored, live plants may be disposed of and no liability is accepted.
Musty odors caused by molds or mildew developing naturally over time are acknowledged as inherent developments and are not a liability of the storage company.
Upon confirmation of storage services, the customer acknowledges that their shipment may be stored at any Windy City Movers Inc facility regardless of the facility address initially stated in the confirmation.
10. Packing and Unpacking
Moving materials used during the move belong to Windy City Movers Inc and are retrieved at the end of the move. Purchased moving materials belong to the customer. Blankets, TV boxes, wardrobe boxes, picture boxes and similar rental moving materials belong to Windy City Movers Inc and will be collected at drop off prior to departure.
Transportation of breakables without proper recommended containers is at the shipper’s risk. Items such as waterbed mattresses, glass, lamps, lampshades, pictures, mirrors, marble, granite, stone, pottery, LCD or plasma TVs and artwork must be packed in proper containers or claims will not be honored.
Full packing and unpacking services are available at an additional service fee. Last-minute packing requests may not be serviced.
Packing paper, boxes and packing supplies are included only if packing service has been requested at the time of booking.
Bubble wrap is not provided unless requested at the time of booking.
Windy City Movers Inc will pack items according to room and item type and will label the room but will not write detailed box inventories. Packing will be done safely and efficiently. Customers are responsible for organizing items before packing begins.
Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for additional packing if the originally agreed number of boxes is insufficient unless the customer agrees to additional fees.
If unpacking service is requested, Windy City Movers Inc will unpack boxes and dispose of cardboard and packing materials used during company packing.
Windy City Movers Inc will unpack items at the designated place upon instruction but will not organize contents in a designer or stylist manner.
11. Plastic Moving Totes / Bins for Hire
Windy City Movers Inc offers plastic moving totes for hire for an additional fee.
The totes will be dropped off to the customer’s nominated location for packing use.
The customer has a maximum of 5 days after move-in to return all hired plastic moving totes clean and in the same condition. Windy City Movers Inc will collect them from the nominated location.
If a plastic moving tote is damaged or missing, the replacement fee per tote is $50.
12. Moving Supplies to Purchase
Windy City Movers Inc offers moving supplies such as boxes, packing paper and tape for purchase in moving bundles designed for home sizes and customer needs.
Windy City Movers Inc does not sell individual moving supplies per unit unless a customer has already purchased a bundle and needs add-ons.
A minimum of 3 business days prior to the move day is required to purchase moving supplies for delivery.
Windy City Movers Inc will deliver purchased moving supplies to the nominated location.
Windy City Movers Inc does not offer refunds or returns on sold moving supply goods, whether used or unused.
13. TVs and Electronics
Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for internal components of an appliance or electronic device. Tilting, turning or truck vibration may affect already loose internal components.
The customer is required to turn on their TV prior to Windy City Movers Inc packing the TV into a TV box. Both the foreman and customer are to acknowledge on the signed bill of lading whether the TV works or does not work at pickup and drop off.
If the TV does not work at pickup, Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for any damages or claims.
If the TV works at pickup and does not work at drop off but no external damage is visible, Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for any damages or claims. If visible external damage is present, the company will process the claim.
Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for damage to a TV packed by the customer in their own box prior to crew arrival.
Windy City Movers Inc can perform TV wall dismounting if agreed at booking. Every additional TV wall dismount is $50 per TV. If a TV dismount was not outlined in the inventory list when booking, a fee of $50 per TV will apply.
Windy City Movers Inc does not offer TV wall mounting or any wall mounting services.
When moving appliances, Windy City Movers Inc is not responsible for disconnecting electricity and will not disassemble appliances that cannot fit through doors unless previously agreed.
Windy City Movers Inc may perform TV unmounting but is not responsible for wall damage resulting from prior installation methods or the unmounting process.
14. Special Handling
Special handling services include packing, handling and assembly or disassembly for heavy, valuable, fragile and unique items, or special moving requests. These require additional labor, skills, equipment, planning and materials, and therefore additional fees.
When booking, the customer is responsible for clearly identifying all items and requested services. Windy City Movers Inc will inform the customer which items or services carry a special handling fee.
Additional padding or protection handling may apply to furniture consisting of marble, stone, glass, crystal, mirrors, screens or oversized picture frames. Additional cardboard, moving blankets or crating may be required.
Additional disassembly or reassembly handling is applicable for furniture requiring removal of more than 8 screws or more than 20 minutes to disassemble or reassemble.
Additional heavy item handling is applicable for any piece or furniture weighing more than 200 pounds.
Windy City Movers Inc does not assemble out-of-the-box furniture and does not assemble furniture previously disassembled by another individual or company.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to refuse to disassemble or move items that require special instructions, specialized training or unsafe handling conditions.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to refuse to move or leave behind an item based on the crew foreman’s safety assessment.
15. Furniture Assembly & Disassembly
Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for damages caused while assembling or disassembling furniture. Additional handling fees may apply depending on size and complexity.
It is the customer’s responsibility to fully disclose the true nature, size and complexity of their items. Windy City Movers Inc may charge additional handling fees or refuse to move an item if those details were not disclosed at booking.
It is the customer’s responsibility to provide assembly manuals for any complex or large item.
It is the customer’s responsibility to contact the manufacturer if an item requires special technical handling.
Large wall units and similar oversized items must be disclosed at booking and may attract an additional handling fee.
Armoires, china cabinets, pool tables, pianos, exercise machines and similar oversized items that cannot be moved in one piece due to size or fragility require additional handling fees.
Windy City Movers Inc will not assemble any item not originally disassembled by Windy City Movers Inc at pickup.
If special handling was not disclosed during booking or with at least 4 business days’ notice, Windy City Movers Inc may refuse to disassemble the item and may require the customer to arrange expert specialist service separately.
16. Furniture & Mattress Disposal
Windy City Movers Inc can perform furniture disposal service at the request of the client, to a disposal center, for an additional fee if requested at booking.
Additional fees apply to cover mileage, labor, extra stops and disposal center charges.
Windy City Movers Inc provides plastic cover for mattress disposal.
Windy City Movers Inc will dispose of customer items curbside only if previously requested and in accordance with local curbside disposal pickup days. The company is not responsible for fines or penalties related to illegal curbside disposal. Same-day undisclosed curbside disposal will not be performed.
Windy City Movers Inc does not provide disposal services for miscellaneous unpacked items during the moving and unpacking process unless previously packed by the client into a box marked for disposal or otherwise reported before moving day. Additional disposal fees may apply.
17. Client Referral Program
Windy City Movers Inc offers a client referral program which awards a referrer with a commission fee on their referral’s completed move. The referral must complete and pay in full for their move with Windy City Movers Inc.
All referrals must be submitted through the Windy City Movers Inc referral program web form. Referrals made verbally or by email do not qualify.
If you qualify for a referral fee, the fee will be sent to your submitted mailing address within 30 days from the date the move has been completed and earned.
Referral fee payment is strictly via certified bank check sent to the mailing address provided in the referral submission form.
Windy City Movers Inc offers a 10% referral commission for local moves on the total paid invoice and a 5% referral commission for long distance moves on the total paid invoice for out-of-state moves outside New York and New Jersey.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to change the commission fee at any time or cancel the referral program.
The referred customer does not earn a commission or discount by being referred, except where they separately apply a valid promo code during booking.
Referral commission cannot be applied as a future credit or discount.
If the referred customer has an open or pending claim that could result in a loss of earned revenue, Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right not to pay the full commission fee and may instead pay a flat $50 fee at its discretion.
Windy City Movers Inc will not honor referral submissions made after the referral’s booking date.
If a referral books storage move in services, only the original storage move in job may qualify for referral commission. No referral commission is paid on storage move out services or monthly storage fees.
Windy City Movers Inc will not honor referral commission fees for repeat customers or for customers who had already been in contact with and received a quote from Windy City Movers Inc.
17A. Broker Referral Program
All participants in the Windy City Movers Inc broker referral program participate of their own free will and under no contract to Windy City Movers Inc, and release Windy City Movers Inc from damages and claims related to that participation.
Windy City Movers Inc is not associated with or a legal representation of any broker, real estate firm or individual who participates in this program. Each party is its own separate entity.
The broker referral program awards a broker referral commission only when the referred client completes and pays in full for moving services with Windy City Movers Inc.
Broker referrals must be submitted through the broker referral program quote form using the broker’s unique Windy City Movers Inc promo code, or the referred client must reference the broker’s promo code when booking their move.
Broker referral fees are paid via certified bank check to the mailing address provided during broker onboarding, within 31 days from the completed move date.
Windy City Movers Inc offers a 10% referral commission for local moves and a 5% commission for long distance out-of-state moves.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to change the commission fee at any time or cancel the broker referral program.
The referred customer does not earn a commission or automatic discount by being referred.
Broker referral commission cannot be applied as a future credit or discount.
If the referred customer has an open or pending claim that affects earned revenue, Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right not to pay the full commission fee and may instead pay a flat $50 fee.
Windy City Movers Inc will not honor broker referral submissions made after the referral’s booking or move date, will not honor commissions for repeat customers, and will not honor commissions for customers who already had contact with and received a quote from Windy City Movers Inc.
18. Military Moving Discount Program
Windy City Movers Inc offers military discounts to active and retired members of the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. The discount also extends to spouses and dependents, provided the person booking the move supplies valid current U.S. military ID in their own legal name.
To redeem the military discount, the customer must provide a scan or photo of their military ID prior to booking.
Windy City Movers Inc will not accept military ID or apply the discount after the move has already been booked and the estimate has been signed.
Windy City Movers Inc reserves the right to discontinue offering the military discount at any time.
19. Customer Privacy
Windy City Movers Inc LLC is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy statement applies to Windy City Movers Inc services and governs data collection and usage across company websites, third party lead platforms, emails, phone calls and the physical completion of services.
Windy City Movers Inc LLC collects and uses personal information to process service orders and deliver requested services. It may also use personal information to inform you of other products or services available from Windy City Movers Inc LLC or its affiliates, and may contact you via email marketing communications or surveys.
Windy City Movers Inc LLC may occasionally contact you on behalf of external business partners about particular offerings of interest, but your personal contact information is not transferred to the third party in those cases.
Windy City Movers Inc LLC may hire other companies to provide limited services such as international and long distance moves, customer support, transaction processing, service delivery or statistical analysis, and will provide only the information needed to deliver those services.
Windy City Movers Inc LLC does not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information such as race, religion or political affiliations without explicit consent.
Windy City Movers Inc LLC may access and or disclose personal information if required to do so by law or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, property, website operations or public safety.
Personal information collected on the site may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Windy City Movers Inc and its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities.
Primary reasons for collecting, holding, using and disclosing personal information include general business operations, answering questions about products and services, sending requested communications, updating records, processing complaints, complying with law, improving websites and any ancillary related purpose.
Windy City Movers Inc is committed to protecting personal information through a variety of security technologies and controlled-access systems. Credit card and billing information is collected on and stored through trusted third party technology providers including merchant processing systems.
20. Liability Waiver During a State of Emergency, Pandemic or Natural Disaster
Under the 2020 COVID-19 New York State Executive Order, Windy City Movers Inc was considered an essential business. The company increased sanitization of trucks and equipment and advised workers to wear face masks and gloves, wash hands frequently and stay home when sick until medically cleared.
Windy City Movers Inc will not be held liable for damages if a customer or member of the community becomes sick during a state of emergency such as the COVID-19 executive order. If you decide to move with Windy City Movers Inc during such a period, it is at your own risk and with acknowledgement of this term.
21. Disclaimer of Warranties: Limitation of Liability
We do not guarantee, represent or warrant that your use of our service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.
We do not warrant that the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable.
Windy City Movers Inc LLC is not responsible for delays due to road traffic conditions or building time restrictions.
You agree that from time to time we may remove the service for indefinite periods of time or cancel the service at any time without notice.
You expressly agree that your use of, or inability to use, the service is at your sole risk. The service and all products and services delivered through the service are provided as is and as available for your use, without any representation, warranties or conditions of any kind, either express or implied.
In no case shall Windy City Movers Inc, its directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, interns, suppliers, service providers or licensors be liable for any injury, loss, claim, or any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost savings, loss of data, replacement costs or similar damages, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, arising from your use of the service or any products procured using the service, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
