Can You Move on Festival Weekends Near Lincoln Square?
Last updated: October 2026
Square Roots and Apple Fest close the core streets, and we track the dates and schedule around them.
Lincoln Square knows how to throw a party. Festival weekends bring crowds, music, food, and street closures to the heart of the neighborhood. They're a big part of what makes Lincoln Square a great place to live. They're also a tough time to park a moving truck near the Square. Plan ahead.
What festival weekends mean for a move
Street closures. The core streets around the Square close for the festival.
Crowds. Sidewalks fill up, which slows every trip between the truck and the door, and a crew carrying a dresser has to wait for gaps in a crowd that isn't paying any attention to a moving day.
Parking. Curb space nearby disappears.
Traffic. Getting a truck into and out of the area takes longer.
How we handle it
When you book a move near the Square, we check the festival calendar. If your date falls on a festival weekend, we'll let you know when you book and suggest options, so you can pick a better day before you've given notice or reserved an elevator at either building. No surprises.
A different day. The weekday before or after usually works much better.
A different route. If your building has alley access, the truck may be able to stay clear of the closed streets.
If you're farther from the Square, the festival may not affect your move at all. Tell us your address and we'll check.
Weekday moves
Weekday moves avoid festival weekends, but they come with their own check. Chicago sweeps streets from April through mid-November, on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Read when does street sweeping affect a Lincoln Square move.
Parking permits
Some Lincoln Square side streets carry permit zones. Tell us your block and we'll sort the right approach when you book. Read do I need a parking permit to move in Chicago.
Other neighborhood events
Every neighborhood has its busy days. Chicago is full of them. In Lake View, it's Cubs home games near Wrigley. In Logan Square, it's Sunday farmers market mornings near the monument. Read should I avoid moving on a Cubs game day and which day should I avoid near the Logan Square monument.
Bungalows and condos
Lincoln Square has a lot of bungalows and a lot of condos near the Brown Line. Read can you move a Lincoln Square bungalow with a piano and do you handle small condo moves near the Brown Line.
Pricing
Lincoln Square moves are hourly, with a 2-hour minimum. Our pricing doesn't change with the season. Avoiding festival crowds just keeps the hours down, since a crew that can park close and walk a clear sidewalk finishes faster than one working around closed streets and a few thousand visitors.
