Our Commitment
At Windy City Movers, we are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you encounter any accessibility barriers, please contact us so we can work to resolve the issue.
Accessibility Measures
Semantic HTML Markup
Proper screen reader support with semantic HTML elements for clear content structure.
Keyboard Navigation
Full keyboard navigation support throughout the site for users who cannot use a mouse.
Alternative Text
Descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images to assist screen reader users.
Clear Navigation
Consistent and intuitive navigation structure across all pages.
Color Contrast
Body text and navigation are checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios. One known exception is listed below.
Responsive Design
Optimized for various screen sizes and devices including mobile accessibility.
Built Into Every Page
These work with the settings you already use, so there is nothing to switch on here.
Text scales with your browser
Type is set in relative units, so browser zoom and your own font-size setting resize the page cleanly without breaking the layout. No separate control is needed.
Reduced motion is honored automatically
If you have reduced motion switched on in your operating system, animations and transitions on this site are disabled. You do not have to set it again here.
Full keyboard navigation
Every link, button, form field, and menu can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator throughout.
Technical Specifications
This website is built using modern web technologies designed with accessibility in mind:
- Next.js framework for optimized performance
- Semantic HTML5 elements
- ARIA labels where appropriate
- Responsive CSS for mobile accessibility
- Focus indicators for keyboard navigation
- Skip-to-content links for screen readers
Known Limitations
We would rather tell you where this site falls short than claim it is perfect. These are the gaps we are aware of, and what to do instead in each case.
Orange text at small sizes
Our brand orange measures 3.37:1 against white. That meets the WCAG AA standard for headings, buttons, and icons, which is 3:1, but not the 4.5:1 the standard asks for on small text. It affects some links and small labels. Every one of them is also underlined or carries a clear label, so none of them rely on color alone, and no information is lost if the color is hard to read. If you would find it easier, your browser’s reader mode will render this site’s text in your own colors.
Embedded videos and maps
Customer videos are hosted on YouTube and our location map comes from Google Maps. We do not control the players or the map, and their keyboard and screen reader behavior is set by those companies. If an embed is difficult to use, call us at (773) 275-4100 and we will give you the same information directly, including directions to our Jefferson Park location.
Getting a quote without the form
Our quote form asks for addresses and uses Google’s address suggestions, which some assistive technology handles awkwardly. You never have to use it. Call (773) 275-4100 or email info@wcmoving.com and we will take the details and send you the same free, no-obligation estimate.
