Will You Take Appliances That No Longer Work?
Will You Take Appliances That No Longer Work?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. An appliance doesn't need to work for us to take it. Working ones go to local donation centers, and the rest go to the junk yard.
A broken appliance is one of the hardest things in a house to get rid of, and most people don't realize how hard until they try to lift one by themselves. It's too big for the trash, too heavy to carry alone, and it's not worth selling. The dead fridge in the garage, the washer that stopped spinning, the dryer that never fully dries anymore. They tend to sit there for months, sometimes years, because nobody in the house knows what to do with them or has the strength to get them up the basement stairs. We do.
What we take
Refrigerators and freezers. Even ones that stopped cooling years ago.
Washers and dryers. Whether they leak, don't spin, or don't heat.
Stoves and ovens. Burners out, door broken, or just too old to trust.
Dishwashers. Including ones that were already pulled out during a remodel.
Other large appliances. Tell us what you have.
Getting a broken appliance ready
Broken appliances need the same prep as working ones. No extra steps.
Fridges and freezers. Emptied and drained. A fridge that stopped working may have water inside from melted ice, so drain it well. Read do refrigerators and freezers need anything special before removal.
Washers, dryers, and gas appliances. If they're still hooked up, they need to be disconnected first. We don't do plumbing work, so water and gas lines need to be disconnected by a plumber before we arrive. Read can you remove a washer or dryer that's still hooked up.
From wherever it is
We remove appliances from inside your home. The basement, the garage, the kitchen, the laundry room. You don't need to move anything outside yourself. If you've already put it out by the alley, we can pick it up there too. Read can you pick up furniture from the alley or curb.
Not sure if it works?
That's fine. Tell us what you know when you call. A guess is enough. If an appliance still works, it can go to a local donation center to be reused. If it doesn't, it goes to the junk yard. Either way, it's gone. Finally. Read what happens to appliances after you remove them.
Removing more than one?
A broken washer often goes out with its dryer. A kitchen remodel replaces everything at once. We can take them all in one pickup, and each appliance is priced the same way. Read can you remove multiple appliances in one pickup.
How it's priced
Junk removal is priced per item, quoted up front so there are no surprises once the truck is loaded. A broken appliance is priced the same as a working one. Read how is junk removal priced.
How fast we can come
Two weeks' notice is ideal, but we also do same-day junk removal. Read how fast can you schedule a junk pickup.
Broken appliance removal is part of our appliance removal service, under our junk removal services alongside moving.
