How Is an Estate Cleanout Priced?
How Is an Estate Cleanout Priced?
Last updated: October 2026
Like all our junk removal, it's priced per item and quoted up front.
When you're handling an estate, the last thing you need is a surprise bill. Families settling an estate are often working with a fixed budget, a closing date, and a lot of other expenses all at once. Per-item pricing makes the cleanout one cost you can know ahead of time, which is a real relief when nearly everything else about settling an estate seems to come with paperwork, waiting periods, and bills that show up later than expected.
How per-item pricing works
Each item is priced the same way. A sofa is one item. A refrigerator is one item. A mattress is one item. Add them up, and you have the quote. Read how is junk removal priced for the per-item rate.
The quote comes before the work, not after. That's the point. Once the truck is loaded, there are no surprises.
Getting an accurate quote
An estate usually has more in it than anyone expects. Much more. The best way to get an accurate quote is to walk through every space.
Every room. Including the guest rooms and the dining room nobody used.
Closets. Coat closets, linen closets, and bedroom closets.
The basement. Often the fullest part of the house.
The attic. If there is one.
The garage. Tools, old furniture, and things nobody remembers.
Outdoor storage. Sheds and patios.
Photos of each space help a lot. If you live out of town, photos may be the easiest way to share what's there, and a quick video walk-through on your phone can be even better, since it shows the corners and shelves that still pictures tend to miss.
What can lower the count
Take what the family wants first. Anything set aside for family isn't part of the cleanout.
Sell what you can. Valuable pieces might be worth selling before the cleanout.
Donate what's usable. Usable items go to local donation centers, so they don't go to waste. Read where do the items from an estate cleanout go.
Pieces with special handling
Pianos. Piano disposal depends on the piano and the access, so we give you an estimate before the pickup. Read what does piano disposal cost.
Antiques and heirlooms going to family. If pieces need to be moved to a family member's home instead of removed, that's a move rather than junk removal. Read do you move single antique pieces.
What we don't take
Hazardous materials, and construction or demolition debris. Read what's included in an estate cleanout.
Who books it?
Whoever is handling the estate. We work with any customer, including executors, attorneys, and realtors. Read can you work directly with an executor, attorney, or realtor.
How soon we can start
Two weeks' notice is ideal, but we also do same-day junk removal. Read how soon can you schedule an estate cleanout.
Estate cleanout pricing is covered on our estate cleanout service page, under our junk removal services alongside moving.
