What's Included in an Estate Cleanout?
Last updated: October 2026
We remove almost all kinds of junk from the home. The exceptions are construction and demolition debris, and hazardous materials.
An estate cleanout usually comes at a hard time. A parent has passed away, moved into assisted living, or moved in with family. The house is full of a lifetime of things, and someone has to empty it. Often that someone lives out of town, has a job and a family of their own, and has a closing date or a listing date to work toward. An estate cleanout takes the physical work off your plate. That's what we're here for.
What we remove
Furniture. Every room, from the living room to the guest bedroom.
Appliances. Working or not. Fridges and freezers just need to be emptied and drained.
Mattresses and box springs. Standard junk removal items.
Electronics. Old TVs, computers, and stereos.
Boxes and household goods. Kitchenware and linens. Clothes and books. Decades of odds and ends.
Basement, attic, and garage contents. The places where things pile up for years.
Pianos. Removed with the same care as a piano move.
What we don't take
Hazardous materials, and construction or demolition debris. Read what won't junk removal take.
Before the cleanout
Take what the family wants. Go through the house first and set aside anything that's staying in the family, from the photo albums in the hall closet to the recipe box in the kitchen drawer and the watch in the top of the dresser. Take your time with this part.
Look for important documents. Wills, deeds, financial records, and anything an executor or attorney might need.
Mark what's going. Or mark what's staying, whichever is shorter.
Tell us about access. Stairs, the basement, and any tricky spots.
Items going to family
Sometimes pieces need to go to family members instead of out the door. We can deliver them as part of the job. Read delivering items to family or donation during a senior move.
Where everything goes
Usable items go to local donation centers, and the rest goes to the junk yard. Read where do the items from an estate cleanout go.
Working with the people involved
Estate cleanouts often involve an executor, an attorney, or a realtor. We work with any customer, and we work with realtors and other household service providers regularly. Read can you work directly with an executor, attorney, or realtor.
How it's priced
Like all our junk removal, estate cleanouts are priced per item, quoted up front. Read how is an estate cleanout priced.
How soon we can start
Two weeks' notice is ideal, but we also do same-day junk removal. Read how soon can you schedule an estate cleanout.
