How Does Pricing Work for a Move With Storage?

The move runs like any local move, hourly, and the storage is quoted with it. You see the whole picture in one free, non-binding estimate before anything is scheduled.

A move with storage has three parts. We pick your things up. We keep them in our storage. Then we deliver them to your new place when you're ready. Each part is priced in a way that's easy to follow, and all three show up together in your estimate.

The pickup

The first half of the move works like any local move. It's hourly, with our standard 2-hour minimum. Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. The time depends on the size of the home and how much there is to move. Stairs and parking matter too.

Moving blankets to pad your furniture are always free. Taking furniture apart and putting it back together is included in the hourly rate.

The storage

Storage is billed monthly, or daily for short-term storage. The minimum is one day. That means a short gap between homes doesn't turn into a full month on your bill. Read what's the minimum storage term and how is it billed.

Everything is blanket-wrapped at pickup and stays protected through delivery. Each item is inventoried. Our storage manages both temperature and humidity, and the facility has security cameras. Read is the storage climate-controlled.

The delivery

The second half works like the first. It's hourly, with the same 2-hour minimum. When you're ready, tell us your delivery date and we'll schedule it. Read how fast can I get my things back from storage.

Why one estimate helps

When the move and the storage come from the same company, you don't have to stitch together three separate quotes from a mover on the way out, a storage facility in the middle, and possibly a different mover on the way back in. That's a lot of phone calls. You see everything up front in one estimate, and one company is responsible from the first box to the last delivery.

What changes the price

The size of the move. More furniture and boxes take more time to load and more room in storage.

The access. Stairs, elevators, long walks, and parking at both ends.

How long you store. A few days, a few weeks, or a few months.

Packing. If you want us to pack too, that's added to the estimate. Materials are charged separately. Read how much does full packing cost.

What stays the same

Our pricing doesn't change with the season. Estimates are free, and every move includes our standard coverage, which is based on weight. You can buy full coverage insurance separately.
