Can I Book Donation Pickup Without a Move?
Can I Book Donation Pickup Without a Move?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes, standalone pickups are welcome.
You don't need to be moving to clear out things you no longer use. Lots of people don't. Maybe you just redid the living room and the old sofa is still in perfectly good shape. Maybe you finally went through the basement. Maybe the kids moved out and their bedroom furniture is sitting there unused. Whatever the reason, if the items are usable, they can go to someone who needs them, whether that's a young couple furnishing a first apartment or a family starting over after a tough year.
How a donation pickup works
Tell us what's going. List the items and mention their condition.
We pick them up. From inside your home. You don't need to carry anything to the curb.
We deliver to local donation centers. Usable items go where they can be reused.
The rest goes to the junk yard. Anything that can't be donated.
That's the whole process. Really. No hauling a sofa into the back of a borrowed pickup. No waiting in a drop-off line on a Saturday morning.
What makes a good donation
Donation centers have rules about what they accept. We'll tell you the common rejection rules upfront, like stained upholstery and broken pieces, so nothing makes a wasted trip. Read what if the charity rejects an item.
In general, clean and intact items have the best chance, and a few minutes with a vacuum or a damp cloth before the pickup can be the difference between a piece that gets accepted and one that gets turned away. Furniture without stains or tears. Appliances that still run. Household goods in good shape.
Donations and junk together
Most homes have a mix. Some things are worth donating, and some are just junk. You don't need two appointments. Donations and regular junk can be handled in the same visit. Usable items go to local donation centers, and the rest goes to the junk yard. Read can usable items be donated instead of dumped.
Getting a receipt
We provide a receipt and an invoice for every donation pickup. Read do I get a receipt for my donation pickup.
When people book a donation pickup
After a remodel. The old furniture is still good.
After the kids move out. Bedrooms get cleared and repurposed.
Before a sale. A lighter, cleaner house shows better.
During a downsize. Fewer rooms means less furniture. Read delivering items to family or donation during a senior move.
As part of an estate. Read where do the items from an estate cleanout go.
Before we arrive
Separate what's going. Make it clear what's being donated and what's staying.
Empty drawers and cabinets. Dressers and cabinets should be empty.
Mention the stairs. If anything is in a basement or upstairs.
For tips on deciding what to let go of, read our guide to decluttering before a move. It works even if you're not moving.
How fast we can come
Two weeks' notice is ideal, but we also do same-day junk removal.
Standalone pickups are part of our donation pickup service, under our junk removal services alongside moving.
Call (773) 275-4100 or email info@wcmoving.com, and tell us what's ready to go.
