Do I Get a Receipt for My Donation Pickup?
Do I Get a Receipt for My Donation Pickup?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. We provide a receipt and an invoice for every donation pickup.
When you give away furniture and household goods, it's good to have a record. Always. You know what left the house, when it left, and who handled it. That's useful for your own records, for an estate, or for anyone else who needs to know what happened to the items.
What you get
A receipt. A record of the donation pickup.
An invoice. A record of the service and what you paid for it.
Keep both together with any other paperwork from the job, ideally in one folder or one email thread, so you're not digging through a junk drawer six months from now trying to remember when the old dining set actually left the house.
Why the records matter
For your own records. Clearing out a home is a big job, and it's easy to lose track of what went where.
For an estate. Executors and attorneys often need a record of what happened to a home's contents. Read can you work directly with an executor, attorney, or realtor.
For a landlord or a business. Property managers and offices often need paperwork for anything removed from a unit or a space.
For your taxes. Donated items may be deductible. That's a question for your tax advisor, since the rules depend on your situation. We're movers, not accountants, but the paperwork gives you something to start with.
Keeping a list of your own
A receipt is more useful when you know exactly what was donated. Details help. Before the pickup, write down each item and its condition. Take a few photos. That way, if you need to describe the donation later, you have the details.
How a donation pickup works
Tell us what's going. List the items and mention their condition.
We pick them up. From inside your home.
We deliver to local donation centers. Usable items go where they can be reused.
The rest goes to the junk yard. Anything that can't be donated.
You get your paperwork. A receipt and an invoice.
We'll tell you the common rejection rules upfront, like stained upholstery and broken pieces, so nothing makes a wasted trip. Read what if the charity rejects an item.
Paperwork for businesses
Offices and property managers clearing out furniture often have their own internal paperwork to file. The receipt and the invoice from the pickup give you a clean record to attach, so the donation shows up properly in your books.
Donations during a move
Moving is a natural time to give things away. Fewer things to pack means less to carry and less to unpack. On senior moves, we can deliver items to family or to donation as part of the move. Read delivering items to family or donation during a senior move.
Donations without a move
You don't need to be moving. Standalone pickups are welcome. Read can I book donation pickup without a move.
Estate cleanouts
Estate cleanouts work the same way. Usable items go to local donation centers, and the rest goes to the junk yard. Read where do the items from an estate cleanout go.
Receipts are covered on our donation pickup service page, under our junk removal services alongside moving.
