What Won't Junk Removal Take?
What Won't Junk Removal Take?
Last updated: October 2026
Two things. Hazardous materials, and construction or demolition debris. Almost everything else in your home, we can haul away.
It's a short list. But it's worth knowing before you book, so the crew doesn't show up to a pile they can't take, and so you have time to find the right place for those items before the truck arrives instead of scrambling on the morning of the pickup.
Hazardous materials
We don't take hazardous materials. That generally means things that are dangerous to handle, transport, or throw away with regular junk. Chemicals and solvents are the usual examples. If something has a warning label about fire, poison, or corrosion, it probably falls in this group.
Not sure about something? Ask us when you call. And check with your city or county about how to dispose of hazardous items safely. Many communities hold collection days for household chemicals.
Construction and demolition debris
We don't take construction or demolition debris either. That's the material left over from building, tearing down, or remodeling. Think drywall and lumber. Concrete and tile. Old roofing. If you're in the middle of a renovation, that debris usually needs a dumpster or a contractor's haul-away.
What we can take from a renovation is everything else, and there's usually a lot of it, because a remodel tends to push years of furniture and forgotten boxes out of the rooms and into the hallway all at once. Old appliances too. The old furniture, the appliances you replaced, and the boxes of things you cleared out of the rooms being redone.
Everything else
Almost everything else in your home is fair game. Read what does junk removal take for the full list. The highlights:
Furniture. Including sectionals and sleeper sofas.
Appliances. Working or not.
Mattresses and box springs. Standard junk removal items.
Electronics. Old TVs, computers, and printers.
Pianos. Removed with the same care as a piano move.
Full-property contents. For estates and rentals between tenants.
Estate cleanouts
The same exceptions apply to estate cleanouts. We remove almost all kinds of junk from the home. The exceptions are construction and demolition debris, and hazardous materials. See our estate cleanout service.
Where everything goes
Usable items go to charity, and the rest goes to the junk yard. Read can usable items be donated instead of dumped.
How it's priced
Junk removal is priced per item, quoted up front. Read how is junk removal priced.
Why the exceptions exist
These limits aren't arbitrary. Hazardous materials need special handling, and construction debris is heavy, bulky, and usually better suited to a dumpster. Keeping them off our trucks keeps our crews safe. It also keeps every pickup simple.
How fast we can come
Two weeks' notice is ideal, but we also do same-day junk removal.
What we don't take is covered on our junk removal page, part of our services alongside moving.
Call (773) 275-4100 or email info@wcmoving.com, and ask about anything you're not sure of.
