What About Moves Near the Glenview Metra Stations?
Last updated: October 2026
Light parking planning, nothing more. We position the truck where it works and keep the walk short.
Glenview has two stations on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line. The Glenview station sits near downtown Glenview and is also an Amtrak stop. The Glen of North Glenview station, which opened in 2001, serves The Glen. Homes, townhomes, and condos near both stations are popular with commuters, and that's where a little parking planning helps.
Why parking near a station matters
Station areas can be busy. Very busy. Commuter parking, drop-off traffic, and nearby shops all compete for curb space, especially on weekday mornings. A moving truck needs room near your door so the crew doesn't have to carry everything a long way, since every extra stretch of sidewalk between the truck and the front door gets walked dozens of times over the course of a single move.
How we plan it
We look at the address. Where the building is and where the curb is. Whether there's a driveway, an alley, or a loading area.
We position the truck. Where it works best for the building and the street.
We keep the walk short. The closer the truck is, the faster the move goes.
Timing
If you can, avoid the busiest times near the station. Weekday mornings are often the tightest. A late-morning start or a weekend move can make parking easier.
Condos and townhomes near the stations
Many homes near the stations are condos or townhomes. Those often have their own rules.
Associations. Many require advance notice and have truck-placement rules. Read does The Glen have moving restrictions.
Buildings. Some have elevator reservations, loading areas, or move hours. Check with your building management, and ask for a wider window if you can.
Insurance. If the building wants a certificate of insurance, we send COIs for free, usually the same day they send their requirements. Read when will I receive the COI.
Winter
From December 1 through March 31, Glenview bans overnight parking on all public streets from 2 to 6 a.m. Read is there a winter overnight parking ban in Glenview.
Other towns with stations
Station-area moves come up in other suburbs too. In Clarendon Hills, weekday-morning commuter parking near the Metra is the only real squeeze, and we schedule or position around it.
Moving from the city?
Many Glenview commuters come from Chicago. If your move starts in the city, the Chicago end may need parking signs. Read do I need a parking permit to move in Chicago and moving to Glenview from the city.
Pricing
Glenview moves are hourly, with a 2-hour minimum. Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. A short carry from the truck keeps the hours down.
