Is There a Winter Overnight Parking Ban in Glenview?
Is There a Winter Overnight Parking Ban in Glenview?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. From December 1 through March 31, overnight parking is banned on all public streets from 2 to 6 a.m. For short-term overnight parking needs, call the Glenview Police Department at (847) 729-5000.
For most moves, this never comes up. Ever. The truck arrives in the morning, the move finishes before dark, and the truck is gone long before 2 a.m. But winter moves that run long or stretch over two days can run straight into this rule, and finding out at midnight that the loaded truck has to move off the street is not how anyone wants a moving day to end.
When it matters
Multi-day moves. If the truck is loaded on day one and unloaded on day two.
Late finishes. Winter days are short, and a big move can run into the night.
Snowy days. Weather slows everything down.
Your options
Use the driveway. If the truck fits in your driveway, it doesn't need the street.
Call the police. For short-term overnight parking needs, call the Glenview Police Department at (847) 729-5000 ahead of time.
Plan the days. Arrange the schedule so the truck doesn't need to stay on the street overnight.
Winter in general
Glenview winters are real. Snow, ice, and cold all affect a move, mostly by slowing down the carry between the truck and the door and adding steps like shoveling and salting that nobody thinks about in July.
Shovel and salt. Clear the walks, the steps, and the driveway.
Lay down mats. Snow and slush come in on boots.
Protect electronics. Give TVs and computers time to warm up before turning them on.
Watch the forecast. If a big storm is coming, call us and we'll talk through the plan.

Associations
If you live in The Glen or another association community, check the HOA rules too. Read does The Glen have moving restrictions.
Other North Shore towns
Overnight parking rules vary by town. Winnetka allows on-street parking from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. unless signs say otherwise. Wilmette can declare a parking ban on all public streets after a snowfall. Northbrook police can activate a street parking ban during a snowstorm. Read what happens if it snows on my Wilmette moving day and can a moving truck stay parked on a Winnetka street overnight.
Moving from Chicago?
Chicago has its own winter overnight parking bans on certain main streets. Read moving into Chicago from another state.
Pricing
Winter moves are hourly, with a 2-hour minimum. Our pricing doesn't change with the season, so a February move costs the same per hour as a July move. Winter often has more open dates, too.
