Does The Glen Have Moving Restrictions?
Does The Glen Have Moving Restrictions?
Last updated: October 2026
Most Glen associations require advance notice and have truck-placement rules. Check your HOA documents. And we'll remind you when you book.
The Glen is one of Glenview's most recognizable neighborhoods, and it's organized differently from older parts of the village. Many homes, townhomes, and condos there are part of associations, and associations usually have rules about moving trucks. A few minutes with your HOA documents before moving day can save a lot of trouble. Trust us.
A little background
The Glen sits on the site of the former Naval Air Station Glenview, a busy training site during World War II. The U.S. Department of Defense announced the station's closure in 1993, and the property was transferred to the village in 1997. The roughly 1,121-acre site was redeveloped into homes and offices. Retail, open space, and a golf course came too.
That planned development is part of why so many Glen homes belong to associations, and why the rules for trucks, parking, and move hours can feel more detailed here than in older parts of Glenview where homes were built one at a time over many decades.
What to check
Advance notice. Most associations want to know ahead of time when a move is happening.
Truck placement. Where the truck can park, and where it can't.
Move hours. Some associations limit when moves can happen.
Common areas. Shared entrances, hallways, or driveways may have their own rules.
Insurance. Some associations or buildings want a certificate of insurance from the mover.
How to find the rules
Read your HOA documents. The rules are usually there.
Call the management company. If the documents aren't clear.
Ask the seller or the previous owner. They've likely been through it. Neighbors often know too, and a quick conversation over the fence can tell you more about how move day actually works on your street than a stack of association paperwork.
Tell us what the association requires when you book. If they need a certificate of insurance, we send COIs for free, usually the same day they send their requirements. Read when will I receive the COI.
