How Much Does Partial Packing Cost?
How Much Does Partial Packing Cost?
Last updated: October 2026
It depends on what you want packed. A kitchen-and-fragiles pack costs far less than a whole-home pack.
That's the whole idea behind partial packing. Our crew packs the things most likely to break. That usually means the kitchen and glassware, plus art and fragiles. You pack the clothes and the books. You only pay for the part we do, so the line you draw between our half and yours is the biggest thing that shapes the price.
What goes into the estimate
What we pack. The rooms and items you hand to us. A kitchen alone is a smaller job than a kitchen plus a dining room full of glassware.
How much is in it. Two kitchens can be very different. One has a few shelves of dishes. Another has cabinets packed with serving pieces, small appliances, and a wall of stemware.
The materials. Dish barrels and picture cartons. Packing paper, tape, and shrink wrap. Materials are charged separately from the packing labor and itemized in your estimate, so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
Anything that needs a crate. For oversized, glass-faced, or high-value pieces, we build custom crates ourselves. Read do you build custom crates for art and fragile items.
What doesn't change the price
The season. Our pricing stays the same all year.
A deposit. There's no deposit to book.
The estimate. Estimates are free.
The minimum
Like every job, packing has a 2-hour minimum. That applies whether we're packing with your move or on a packing-only day. Read can I book full packing without a move, since packing-only works the same way for a partial pack.
Your half costs less than you might think
For the boxes you pack yourself, you can buy boxes and tape from our moving supplies store, along with packing paper and shrink wrap. Delivery is free when you're moving with us. Wardrobe and TV boxes are free to use on moving day, and moving blankets to pad your furniture are always free during the move, whoever packed the boxes. Read which boxes do I actually need and are the wardrobe and TV boxes really free.
Partial or full?
If you're comparing the two, the gap comes down to how much of the home you're handing over. Full packing covers every room, closet, and cabinet. Partial packing covers the breakables, which is why it costs less. Read how much does full packing cost for the other side of the comparison.
How to keep it down
Start your half early. Clothes and books are easy to box in the weeks before the move, a little at a time, so they're done and stacked by the time our crew arrives for the fragiles.
Be clear about the split. Tell us exactly which rooms are ours when we estimate. A clear line means a clear quote.
Declutter first. Every glass you donate is one less glass to wrap.
Coverage
Every move includes our standard coverage, based on weight. For high-value pieces, you can buy full coverage insurance separately.
Partial packing pricing is covered on our partial packing service page, part of our moving and storage services and our wider moving services.
Call (773) 275-4100 or email info@wcmoving.com, and tell us which rooms you'd like us to pack.
