Yes. Packing-only jobs are welcome. We pack the home, and you take it from there. Like every job, packing has a 2-hour minimum.

Not everyone who needs packers needs movers. Really. Maybe your employer is covering a long-distance carrier but not the packing. Maybe you rented a truck and lined up friends to carry, but nobody wants to wrap two hundred glasses. Or maybe the move is weeks away and you just want the house boxed up early. Whatever the reason, you can book the packing on its own. Easy.

When packing-only makes sense

You're moving yourself. You've got the truck and the helpers, but packing is the part you dread.

Another company is doing the move. The truck is booked, but packing isn't part of it.

You're renovating. A room or the whole house needs to be boxed up and cleared.

You're staging a home for sale. Clearing out shelves and closets makes a house show better.

You're helping a parent downsize. The packing is the hard part, emotionally and physically, because every drawer and every closet in a home someone has lived in for forty years comes with a story attached.

What's included

The crew packs. Every room, closet, and cabinet you want packed.

Every box is labeled. By room and contents, so it's easy to unload and unpack later.

We bring the materials. Boxes in every size come with the crew, along with paper, tape, and shrink wrap. Wardrobe boxes and dish barrels too. Materials are charged separately from the packing labor and itemized in your estimate.

How it's priced

Packing is hourly, like our moves, with our standard 2-hour minimum. Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. Every home is different, so we estimate based on its size and how much there is to pack. Read how much does full packing cost.

If you're doing the move yourself

Once we've packed, you're ready to load. If you'd like help with the heavy lifting too, we load and unload all kinds of trucks, PODS, and storage units. Read do you load rental trucks and PODS and how is labor-only moving help priced.

If you change your mind

If you decide you'd rather have us handle the whole move, book packing with your move. One company handles your home from the first box to the last carry. Our local residential moving service and long-distance moving service both pair with full packing. Read same crew for pack day and move day.

Timing a packing-only job

Pack close to the move. Living out of boxes for weeks is no fun, especially when the coffee maker, the good knives, and the kids' favorite books are all sealed up in a carton somewhere in the dining room.

Leave out what you need. Set aside clothes, medications, chargers, and daily essentials. Our post on what to keep with you on moving day has a good list.

Book ahead. There's no deposit to book, and rescheduling is free.
