What Do I Need to Provide for a Loading-Only Job?
Last updated: October 2026
Just the truck, the container, or the storage unit.
That's the whole list from your side. Our crew brings the straps, the tools, and the technique. A loading-only job is labor. You've already got the vehicle. We bring the people who know how to fill it.
But a few things on your end make the job go faster, and faster means it costs less, because labor-only is billed by the hour and every minute the crew spends waiting on a key or a half-packed closet is a minute you're paying for without anything moving. Here's how to get ready.
What you provide
The truck, container, or unit. A rental truck, a PODS or other portable container, or a storage unit. Have it parked or delivered and ready before the crew arrives. If it's a storage unit, make sure you have the key or access code.
Access. Someone there to let the crew into your home, and into the unit or truck.
A packed home. Loading-only means loading. Boxes should be packed, taped, and ready to go when the crew arrives.
What we bring
Our crew comes with straps and tools, plus the experience to load it so nothing shifts. Taking furniture apart and putting it back together is included in the hourly rate, so if a bed frame or a table has to come apart to fit, we handle it.
What about blankets?
We usually don't use blanket padding on loading jobs. If you'd like blankets to keep with your load, so your furniture stays padded for the drive, you can buy them from us. Just ask when you book.
On unloading jobs, no packing materials are needed at all. Everything arrives already packed and wrapped.
How to make it faster
Park close. The shorter the walk from your door to the truck, the faster the load. In Chicago, many blocks need a temporary no-parking permit to hold curb space for a truck. Sort that out before moving day.
Stage the boxes. Stack them near the door, heaviest on the bottom, with the fragile ones on top and clearly marked.
Know what's going. If some things aren't going in the truck, mark them clearly so the crew doesn't load them. A strip of colored tape works.
Tell us the truck size. It helps us plan the load and the crew.
A note on coverage
Our coverage applies to the part of the job we're doing. Once the truck leaves our hands and someone else drives it, responsibility shifts to them. Read are my belongings insured when someone else drives the truck for more.
Pricing
