Two weeks is safe. The freight elevator calendar, not our calendar, is usually the constraint.

Edgewater's lakefront is lined with high-rises, and moving into or out of one is mostly about the building. The building decides when you can use the freight elevator, how long you can have it, and where the truck can park. Those decisions set the date more than anything else, which is why the very first call on an Edgewater high-rise move usually goes to the building's management office, not to the moving company.

Why the elevator sets the date

Most high-rises let one move use the freight elevator at a time. On busy days, like the end of the month, those slots fill up fast. Once you have your elevator window, booking the crew is the easy part. Really.

How to plan

Call your building first. Ask what dates and times the freight elevator is available.

Reserve the elevator. You arrange that with building management. Ask for a wider window if you can.

Book us for that window. We plan the move to fit inside it.

Send the COI requirements. Most buildings want a certificate of insurance. We provide it before move day. Read when will I receive the COI.

Two weeks gives enough time for all of that, even at month-end.

When the window is short

If your building only allows a short window, we'll assess the move and give you an accurate estimate of how long it will take. If the window isn't enough, we may recommend more movers, or a date with a longer window. Read what if my building only allows moves on certain days.

Where the truck parks

Big pieces and small elevators

Pricing

High-rise moves are hourly, with a 2-hour minimum. Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. Our pricing doesn't change with the season.
