Can You Move High-End Outdoor and Patio Furniture?
Can You Move High-End Outdoor and Patio Furniture?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. Outdoor sets, planters, and garden pieces are wrapped and moved with the same care as the living room.
In Kildeer, the outdoors is a big part of the home. Large homesites mean big patios, decks, and gardens, and the furniture out there is often as carefully chosen as anything inside. A teak dining set. A cast-aluminum sectional. Stone planters. A fire table. Those pieces deserve real protection on moving day, not a quick toss onto the back of the truck after everything else has been loaded, which is exactly how outdoor furniture tends to get treated when nobody has planned for it ahead of time.
What we move from outside
Dining sets. Tables and chairs, including heavy cast and wrought pieces.
Lounge furniture. Sectionals, chaises, and sofas.
Planters. Including large and heavy ones.
Garden pieces. Benches, sculpture, and decorative items.
Grills. Read moving outdoor furniture, grills, and lawn equipment.
Lawn equipment. Mowers and snowblowers need to be drained first.
How outdoor pieces are protected
Wrapped like indoor furniture. Moving blankets pad furniture for free during every move.
Shrink wrap. Keeps cushions and finishes clean and holds loose parts together.
Taken apart when it helps. Tables lose their legs, umbrellas come out of their bases. Assembly and disassembly are always included in our hourly rate.
Heavy pieces planned ahead. Big planters and stone pieces are heavy. Tell us about them so the crew comes ready.
Why outdoor pieces get forgotten
Outdoor furniture is usually the last thing anyone thinks about. It's not in the house, so it doesn't feel like part of the move until the truck is nearly full. Put it on the list from the start, and it gets the same planning and the same space on the truck as the dining room.
Getting outdoor furniture ready
Clean it. Wipe off dirt and leaves, and let wet pieces dry.
Remove cushions. Bag them separately so they stay clean.
Empty planters. Soil and water add a lot of weight. Plants usually travel best with you.
Store umbrellas. Close them and set the bases aside.
Sculpture and fragile garden pieces
Delicate or valuable garden pieces may need more than blankets. For oversized or high-value pieces, we build custom crates ourselves. Read can you move sculpture and do you build custom crates for art, mirrors, and fragile items.
Hot tubs
If there's a hot tub on the patio, it needs to be drained and disconnected before we arrive. Read do you drain the hot tub.
Associations
Some Kildeer communities have rules about move hours and truck placement. Read are there association rules about moving days in Kildeer.
