Yes. We scout access in advance. Gates get arranged, clearances get measured, and carry distances get factored into the plan rather than discovered on the day.

Some of the most beautiful homes in Winnetka are also the hardest to reach. A gated drive. A long private road. A house on the lake bluff where the front door is a long walk from where a truck can park. None of that makes a move impossible. It just means the plan has to start before moving day.

What we check ahead of time

The gate. Who opens it, and when. Whether the truck fits through it.

The drive. How long it is, what it's made of, and whether a truck can turn around.

Clearances. Mature trees over private drives can limit truck height. Overhead branches and wires matter.

Carry distances. How far it is from where the truck parks to the door. On long drives, that distance shapes the whole crew plan.

The bluff. On bluff-side homes, back-of-house access can work differently from the front.

The garden. If the route crosses landscaping, we walk it with you before anything moves across it.

Why it matters

The worst time to find out a truck doesn't fit under the trees is when it's already in the driveway. The worst time to learn the carry is three times longer than expected is after the crew has started. Planning for those things ahead of time keeps the day on schedule and keeps your property safe.

Gates and associations

Gated properties and private roads often have their own rules. Tell us who manages the gate and whether there's an association. We'll plan around it. If the association or the building wants a certificate of insurance, we send COIs for free, usually the same day your building sends its requirements. Read when will I receive the COI.

Long carries

Long carries are normal on larger Winnetka properties. A longer walk from truck to door means more crew time, so we plan the crew size around it. Read are there fees for stairs and long carries.
