Can You Do Short-Notice Moves in Portage Park?

Last updated: October 2026

Better here than almost anywhere. When a crew frees up, Portage Park is minutes away. Call (773) 275-4100 and ask about today.

Plans change fast. Really fast. A closing moves up. A landlord needs the unit back. A roommate situation falls apart. A family emergency means a parent has to move this week instead of next month. When the timeline shrinks, the hardest part is finding movers who can actually show up, because most companies book their crews days or weeks in advance and simply don't have anyone free to send on a few hours' notice. In Portage Park, that's easier, because we're right next door.

Why location helps

Our headquarters are at 5222 N Elston Ave, a short drive from Portage Park. When a crew finishes a job early or a slot opens up, a nearby neighborhood is the easiest place to send them. A crew that's ten minutes away can start the same day. A crew that's an hour away often can't.

How to book a short-notice move

Call as early as you can. The earlier in the day, the more options there are.

Tell us the basics. Both addresses, the size of the move, and any stairs.

Be ready. Boxes packed and taped, so the crew can start right away.

Be flexible. If you can take an afternoon slot, that may open things up.

What helps the crew move fast

Alley access. Alley access handles most Portage Park moves without street permits, which saves time on short notice.

Clear paths. Halls, stairs, and doorways free of clutter.

Set-aside essentials. Read what to keep with you on moving day.
