Do You Meet Building Requirements for Luxury High-Rises?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. We provide the certificate of insurance your building requires, and we work within its floor protection rules and move-hour windows.
Luxury high-rises are some of the most rule-heavy places to move in Chicago. They should be. The lobby has marble, the hallways have finishes, and a hundred other residents share the same elevators. Buildings like that want to know exactly who's coming in, when, and how they'll protect the place. A white glove move is built to answer all three.
The certificate of insurance
Almost every high-rise asks for a COI before a moving crew walks through the door. We send it for free, usually the same day the building sends its requirements. If the building needs to be named as additional insured, tell us and we'll include it.
The certificate shows the coverage we carry. That's commercial general liability, commercial auto liability, and transportation coverage that includes loading and unloading. Our post on whether we're licensed and insured explains each one.
Floor protection
High-rises often have their own rules for protecting floors, walls, and elevators. We work within them. Floor runners and door frame protectors are standard on every move we do, and so is padding every piece of furniture. On a white glove move, that's the starting point.
Move-hour windows
Most luxury buildings set the days and hours when moves can happen. We schedule your move inside that window. The building is balancing your move against deliveries, contractors, and every other resident who needs an elevator that afternoon, so a crew that respects the clock keeps everyone's day on track. That's us.
When you reserve the freight elevator, ask for more time than you think you need. A window with breathing room at the end turns a small delay into a non-event. If a move ever looks like it might run past the window, we'll assess it with you and recommend adding movers or finishing on another day the building allows. Our post on what to do when your building only allows moves on certain days covers it in more detail.
What white glove adds
Inside the building, white glove means you don't touch anything. We do it all, from packing the first box to arranging the last chair. You let us in, and when we leave, you can start living in your new place.
For high-value pieces, we build custom crates ourselves. That covers glass, mirrors, art, and anything else that deserves more than a blanket. Our artwork moving and antique furniture moving services cover the details.
Coverage for what's inside
Every move includes our standard coverage, based on the weight of each item. For valuable furnishings and art, you can buy full coverage insurance through us or through your own insurer.
Where we do this
High-rise moves happen all over the city. Downtown, our Chicago movers page covers them. Along the lake, read about moving into an Edgewater high-rise. In Lincoln Park, our white glove and art moving services are built for the neighborhood's homes.
