Do You Disassemble Office Furniture and Cubicles?
Do You Disassemble Office Furniture and Cubicles?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. And you don't pay extra for it.
Taking apart office furniture and putting it back together is part of the move. It's always included in the hourly rate. Desks, cubicles, conference tables, workstations. If it has to come apart to leave the building, we take it apart, and we put it back together at the new office.
That matters more in an office than at home. A house might have a bed and a dining table to break down. An office can have dozens of workstations, each one built from panels, work surfaces, and hardware that all have to find their way back together.
Why office furniture comes apart
A lot of office furniture was assembled inside the space it's sitting in. A long conference table came through the door in pieces. So did the cubicles. Getting them out usually means reversing that, and getting them into the new office means doing it all again.
Big pieces also travel better in parts. They're lighter to carry, safer in the elevator, and less likely to get damaged on the truck.
How we keep track
Before anything comes apart, the crew takes pictures. Then we have you check everything in person. That gives both of us a clear record of how it looked, and it's the reference the crew uses when it all goes back together.
Putting it back together
At the new office, the crew reassembles the furniture. To make that go fast, decide ahead of time where things are going. Know which desks go in which room, and where the conference table sits. On move day, tell the crew lead where each piece belongs, and it gets built in place instead of built twice.
If your new office has a different layout than the old one, figure that out before the move, because deciding where forty desks go while the crew stands holding the first one is the slowest way to spend an hour on the clock. Plan it early.
Not everything has to come
Office moves are a good time to let go of furniture. The cubicle panels nobody uses, the old desks from the last remodel, the filing cabinets that have been empty since 2019. We remove office furniture too, so it doesn't follow you to the new space. Our furniture removal service handles it.
Timing it right
Disassembly and reassembly can take a big share of an office move's time, so they're a big part of the estimate. We usually send someone to see your office in person, so we can see what has to come apart. We can do the estimate by video or over the phone if you prefer.
A lot of businesses move over a weekend so nobody loses a workday. Our post on moving an office over a weekend walks through it. Weekend and after-hours moves cost the same as weekday moves.
More on disassembly
The same rules apply at home. If you're curious how we handle household furniture, read furniture disassembly and reassembly, or see our furniture disassembly service.
