Some families specifically choose Northfield for what it isn't: not a village-with-tourists like Winnetka, not a commercial hub like Northbrook, not a Northwestern-adjacent Evanston with student rentals cycling constantly. For families whose priority is New Trier access, Northfield is often the most attainable entry point. Housing costs are meaningfully lower than in Winnetka or Kenilworth while offering the same school district.
