How Fast Can You Get to My Chicago Neighborhood?
Last updated: October 2026
Being based inside the city means short drive times to most neighborhoods. Same-day availability is common. The sooner you book, the better your date and time options.
Our headquarters are at 5222 N Elston Ave in Jefferson Park, on the Northwest Side. From there, most of the city is a short drive. That helps in two ways. It keeps the travel part of your move short, and it makes last-minute moves more realistic.
Why the drive matters
Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. If your mover is based far outside the city, the crew spends more of the day on the road. Being in the city keeps the drive to most neighborhoods short, which means more of the hours you pay for go toward actually moving your things and fewer go toward a crew sitting on the expressway on the way to your door.
Neighborhoods close to home
Jefferson Park sits on the Northwest Side. Portage Park is right next door, and Logan Square and Lincoln Square are close. The North Side lakefront neighborhoods aren't far either. Downtown and the South Side are farther, but still well within the city.
Our neighborhood pages cover a few of these in more detail. Each one has its own quirks.
Portage Park. Alley access handles most moves.
Logan Square. Side streets often need parking permits.
Lincoln Square. Some side streets carry permit zones.
Lake View. A short drive east.
Lincoln Park. Permits with posted signs are standard.
Edgewater. Up along the lake.
Same-day moves
Same-day availability is common. If you need a crew today, call as early as you can. Read can I really book movers for today and see our last minute moving service.
Getting the best time slot
The sooner you book, the better your date and time options. In peak season, May through September, the first and last weekends of each month book out first. If you have flexibility, a weekday or the middle of the month can open up more choices.
Suburbs too
The suburbs aren't out of reach either. We move people in Evanston, Park Ridge, and Glenview, and much farther out. Our service areas page has the full list.
Before the crew arrives

How it's priced
