Do You Move Swim Spas?
Do You Move Swim Spas?

Yes, with no size limit. Send us the dimensions and we'll plan the right method for yours.
A swim spa is a hot tub's much bigger cousin. It's long enough to swim in place, which makes it one of the largest things anyone keeps in a backyard. That size is exactly why the plan matters more than the muscle.
Dollies or a crane
How we move a swim spa depends on the path. If nothing is blocking the way, we move it on dollies. If it can't fit through the backyard gate or door, we use a crane.
The largest swim spas often need the crane. A long unit has to clear every fence, gate, and corner between the backyard and the street, and in a lot of Chicago yards there just isn't enough room to swing something that size around the side of the house. It won't fit. Lifting it over is the cleaner option. Our hoisting and crane service covers how that works.
What we need from you
The dimensions. Length, width, and height. The model name helps too.
The narrowest point. Measure the tightest spot on the path from the spa to the street, and at the new place too.
Photos. The yard, the gate, the side of the house, and anything overhead like power lines or trees.
The destination. Where the spa is going, and what it will sit on.
With that, we can tell you which method yours needs before anyone shows up.
Before moving day
A swim spa must be drained and electrically disconnected before we arrive. For hardwired models, that means your electrician. We don't do plumbing work, and we don't do electrical work. Drain it completely 24 to 48 hours ahead so the inside has time to dry out. Read do you drain the hot tub for the full checklist.
Clear the path too. Patio furniture, grills, planters, and anything else along the route should be out of the way.
Why the shell needs care
A spa's shell is built to sit flat, not to carry its own weight from an odd angle. Tipping it the wrong way can crack it, sometimes in ways you don't see until it's refilled. That's why a careful spa move looks slow. Slow protects the shell. Our guide on how to move a jacuzzi in Chicago explains the physics.
Moving the rest of the backyard
A swim spa usually isn't the only thing out back. Grills, patio sets, and lawn equipment come along too. Read moving outdoor furniture, grills, and lawn equipment.
Pricing
Swim spa moves are hourly, with a 2-hour minimum. Moving companies in the Chicago area charge at least one hour for travel. If the spa needs a crane, that gets planned into the estimate up front, so there are no surprises on the day.
Swim spas are covered by our jacuzzi moving service, one of our moving services.
