Do You Help With Packing for Seniors?
Do You Help With Packing for Seniors?
Last updated: October 2026
Yes. It's the most-used add-on for our senior moves, and that's no surprise.
Packing a home is hard work at any age. Packing a home someone has lived in for thirty or forty years is something else. Every cabinet holds decades. Every closet has a story. And the physical work of it is often exactly what a senior move is trying to get away from. Bending. Lifting. Hours of taping boxes.
That's where we come in.
Full packing or partial packing
There are two ways to do it.
Full packing means our crew packs the whole home. Every room, every closet, every cabinet. The person moving doesn't have to lift a box. Our full packing service covers how it works.
Partial packing means we pack some of it and the family packs the rest. A common split is the kitchen and the fragile things for us, and clothes and personal items for the family. It's a good fit when family members want to go through certain things themselves, or when part of the home is already packed.
Both are available on any senior move, and both can be combined with the move itself or booked on their own.
Labeled by room
This part matters more than it sounds. Every box we pack is labeled by room. When the boxes arrive at the new home, they go to the right room right away.
For someone moving into a smaller space, that's a big deal. Nobody wants to open eight boxes looking for the kettle. A labeled box goes straight to the kitchen, and the kitchen gets set up first.
Unpacking on request
Packing is half the job. The other half is the first week in the new place, when everything is still in boxes. We unpack on request, so the new home can feel lived-in from the first night.
If the family wants us to handle everything from start to finish, that's white glove. We handle every step from the first box packed to the last picture on the wall, and the person moving doesn't have to touch a thing. Our guide to white glove vs. standard moving explains the difference.
What it costs
Packing labor and packing materials are charged separately from the move. We bring everything the job needs. Like every job we do, packing has a 2-hour minimum, and there's no deposit to book.
Packing for a downsize
Packing for a senior move usually means packing for a smaller home. Not everything is going. Some things go to family. Some get donated. Our post on delivering items to family or donation during a senior move covers how that works on moving day.
Why it helps to have people who've done this before
Senior moves are one of the things we know best. Our crews have a lot of history and experience with them. They pack with care, they're patient with decisions, and they understand that a box of old letters isn't just a box.

Packing is part of our senior moving service, one of our moving services.
