Matt Agritelley's review is four words long, and we'd argue that's not a short review. It's a complete one. Because when a move goes the way it's supposed to, there's genuinely nothing else to say, no story to tell, no incident survived, no caveat attached. Four words is what a clean day sounds like.

What makes it worth a post is where those four words were earned: a move from North McClurg Court to North Lake Shore Drive, which is about as deep into Chicago high-rise country as a move can go.

Two elevator buildings, one day

McClurg Court sits in the heart of Streeterville, a neighborhood that's practically all towers, and Lake Shore Drive is a wall of them running up the lakefront. A move between two buildings like that is really a move between two sets of building rules. Each end typically wants a certificate of insurance on file before the crew works. Each end has a freight elevator to reserve and a window to hit. Each has a dock or a loading area with its own clock, and a lobby and corridors that have to be protected and respected, because they're shared with a few hundred neighbors.

So an "efficient" high-rise move is mostly won before the truck arrives: paperwork filed, elevators booked, timing set so the crew loads out of one reservation window and into the other without dead time between. On the day, efficiency means the elevator never travels empty, everything staged and ready at each door, a steady loop between the apartment and the truck, because in these buildings the elevator window is the resource, and a crew that wastes it pays for it at both ends.

One booking tip falls out of all this: if your move involves buildings like these, tell us both addresses and both management companies' requirements as early as you can. The elevator reservations at the two ends have to be sequenced against each other, and the earlier we can line those windows up, the tighter and cheaper the day gets.

That's the machinery under Matt's four words. From inside the apartment, none of it is visible. The crew shows up, the day runs, the furniture appears at the new place, and the whole apparatus of COIs and reservations and dock windows worked well enough that it never came up.
