Alanna Kurek's move ran from North Stave Street, over by the Logan Square and Avondale border, up to North Elston Avenue. Elston happens to be our home street, our office has sat on it for decades, so this one stayed entirely in our own corner of the Northwest Side. A short, ordinary local move in most ways. What made it worth writing about is the kind of move it was: a senior move, and the three words Alanna chose afterward describe exactly what a senior move needs to be.

The crew worked steadily, wrapped the furniture in blankets and shrink wrap, protected the floors and doorways at both ends, and kept the day moving without ever making it feel hurried. On an hourly move that matters twice, once for the bill, and once because a moving day is tiring for anyone, and stretching it out helps nobody. Getting someone settled by early afternoon instead of evening is its own kind of care.

Professional

The third word is the one that holds the other two together. A professional senior move means the crew arrives on time, knows the plan, handles every question kindly, and leaves both homes in the condition they found them. It's not a special performance.
