Speed makes people nervous when it comes to movers, and for good reason. Fast usually means careless. But watch a crew that actually knows what it's doing and you learn the opposite: the fastest moves are the careful ones, because nothing ever has to be redone. That was the whole story of Phylicia Sakelaris's move in Naperville.

Her crew was led by Johnny, and the pace was set before anyone lifted a box. Johnny walked the house first, reading the layout, sorting what would go in what order, and deciding how the truck would be packed hours before it was full. The single biggest time-waster on a move is a crew standing around a truck wondering where something goes, and a good lead designs that out of the day before it can happen.

Every piece of furniture got wrapped before it moved: thick moving blankets over the finished surfaces, secured with shrink wrap so the padding stayed put and the drawers and cabinet doors stayed shut on the drive. Into the truck it went in tiers, heavy and solid on the bottom, light and fragile up top, strapped down so the road couldn't rattle anything loose. When Phylicia called the crew "super careful," this is the part she was watching: nothing on that truck could move, because everything was wrapped, stacked, and tied with intent.

And that is the trick behind her other bit of feedback, that we were "fast and efficient." The speed was never the crew rushing. It was the crew never having to backtrack. Wrap it right once, label it once, load it right once, and the clock takes care of itself, which on an hourly move means a smaller bill too.
