Can I Reschedule My Move?
Yes, anytime, and it is always free. Moving timelines slip all the time. A closing gets pushed, a lease date moves, a plan falls through, and we are not going to charge you for real life. There are no rescheduling fees at Windy City Movers, whether you give us three weeks' notice or call the day before. If your date needs to change, we will help you find a new one.
Rescheduling is free, so it usually beats cancelling
Here is something worth knowing if your plans are shaky. Cancelling within 24 hours of your move does carry a late fee, because by then we have a crew and a truck committed to your date. Rescheduling does not. Moving your date to another day is free no matter when you do it.
So if your move is not off, just uncertain or delayed, the smart play is almost always to reschedule rather than cancel. You keep your spot with us, you avoid any fee, and we simply shift you to a date that works.
Book the new date as early as you can
The one thing that affects rescheduling is not a fee, it is availability. Our calendar fills up, especially around the end of the month when leases turn over and weekends go fast. The sooner you tell us your date is changing, the better your odds of landing your ideal new slot. If you even suspect your timeline might shift, a heads-up lets us plan around it. Early notice also gives us time to line up the right crew size and truck for your new date, so the reschedule is seamless rather than a scramble on both ends.

Moving your date is quick and painless.
Call our office at (773) 275-4100 first. Our coordinators can pull up the live calendar and tell you on the spot which dates are open, so you can pick a new one right then. After that, send a short email to info@wcmoving.com confirming the new date and anything that has changed, your inventory or your access details, so we both have it in writing.
One more step if you are in a high-rise: update your building. Reschedule your freight elevator reservation for the new date, and make sure we have the current details so we can reissue your Certificate of Insurance to match. Buildings tie the COI and the elevator booking to a specific date, so this keeps your apartment or condo move from hitting a snag.
