Do I Need to Be Present During My Move?

Short answer: you do not have to lift a finger, but you (or someone you trust) should be there. We recommend having a point of contact at both the pickup and the delivery. Not to work, just to guide. A few minutes of your direction at each end saves you hours of rearranging later and keeps everything accountable from the first box to the last.
Here is why it matters, and what to do if you truly cannot make it.
At pickup: set the move up right
When our crew arrives, a quick walkthrough with the lead sets the tone for the whole day. You point out the pieces that need extra care: the fragile heirloom, the box you want to open first at the new place, the antique that is not as sturdy as it looks. We treat everything carefully no matter what, but your two-minute heads-up helps us prioritize and load smart. If we are handling the packing too, that is the moment to flag whatever needs the most protection.
There is also paperwork that needs you. You will review and sign the inventory and the bill of lading before we roll. Those documents protect you and your belongings, and going through them together keeps everything clear from the start. With a fully licensed and insured move, that sign-off is how both sides stay on the same page.
At delivery: get every box in the right room
Delivery is where being there really pays off. As we unload, you tell us where things go, and we carry each item straight to its room. The bed to the upstairs bedroom. The boxes marked kitchen to the kitchen. The treadmill to the basement instead of the middle of the living room.
That room-by-room placement is the difference between a home you can start living in tonight and a pile of boxes you sort for a week. While you are there, you can also do a quick walkthrough of the empty truck and check your furniture as it lands in its new spot. Our white-glove care protects your walls and floors on the way in, and your eyes on the final placement make sure everything ends up exactly where you want it.
If you cannot be there, send someone who can
Life happens. A closing runs long, work blows up, a flight gets delayed. If you cannot be at the move, just line up a trusted stand-in: a family member, a close friend, someone you would hand your keys to without a second thought.
Make sure they show up ready to actually stand in for you. That means they can make the calls on the spot about what goes and where it lands, they have the keys, gate codes, and any elevator reservation in hand, and they are cleared to sign the inventory and service agreement for you. Give them that, and the move runs just as smoothly as if you were standing there yourself.
You guide, we do the rest
One thing to be clear about: even when you are on-site, we never expect you to carry a thing. Your only job is to point. When you are reachable during the move, we can ask the small questions in real time, like which wall the heavy wardrobe goes against or which boxes you need first, and apply four decades of experience exactly to your liking instead of guessing.
The best moves are the ones where you and the crew work as a team. You know your home and how you want it set up. We know how to get it there without a scratch. Backed by a 4.7 rating across more than 700 reviews, that teamwork is how we have kept people happy since 1982.
